ERASMUS+ Funding
The Erasmus grant is complementary in nature and aims to cover the increased costs of living and accommodation abroad. It is funded by the EU. Students participating in the Erasmus programme retain the right to receive any other scholarships they have been awarded, such as academic or ministerial scholarships.
The amount of the monthly grant depends on the destination country and is determined by the European Commission in the Programme Guide.

Funding for Travel Days
The University may award funding for travel days. Distance is calculated using the European Commission’s distance calculator, and travel dates may not overlap with mobility dates.
Additional support based on distance:
- up to 1,999 km – funding for 2 additional travel days
- 2,000–2,999 km – funding for 4 additional travel days
- over 3,000 km – funding for 6 additional travel days
Important: To receive funding for additional travel days, mobility must start at least one day before the start date in the financial agreement and end at least one day after the end date stated in the agreement.
“Distance” refers to the distance between Wrocław and the host institution, while the “rate” covers the cost of travel to and from the host institution.
Rules for Payment and Calculation of the Grant
The Erasmus+ grant is paid in two instalments:
- 1st instalment: 80% before departure
- 2nd instalment: 20% after completing the mobility and submitting the required documentation
The total amount of funding depends strictly on the duration of the semester including the examination session at the host university (confirmed by the host institution). As a result, students going to the same country may receive different amounts due to differences in semester length.
Grant Calculation Rules
According to the rules at the University of Wrocław, financial support is awarded for the following periods:
Mobility for Studies
- up to 5 months for one-semester mobilities
- up to 10 months for three-term mobilities
- up to 10 months for two-semester mobilities
If the semesters take place in different academic years (within the same study cycle), each stay is funded for up to 5 months.
According to general rules, a stay at the host university cannot be shorter than 2 months.
Mobility for Traineeships
- up to 12 months for student traineeships
- up to 5 months for graduate traineeships
The grant amount is calculated to the accuracy of one day, with each month counted as 30 days. The grant can only be paid once the financial agreement has been signed before departure.
These rules apply to mobility at all levels of study.
